UGC POLICIES AND PROCEDURES RELATED TO QUALITY ASSURANCE

Quality Review Procedure

Periodical cycles of external reviews of two types, programme reviews, and institutional reviews are conducted by external reviewers appointed by the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Commission. Institutional Reviews

The Institutional Review analyses and tests the effectiveness of an institution’s processes for managing and assuring the quality of academic activities undertaken by the University/HEI. It evaluates the extent to which internal quality assurance schemes can be relied upon to maintain the quality of the provision of educational programmes over time. The Manual for Institutional Review of Sri Lankan Universities and Higher Education Institutions was developed in order to provide guidance to Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) who wish to submit themselves for Institutional Review under the Quality Assurance Framework of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

It is about management and assurance of quality at the programme level. The manual for Review of Undergraduate Study Programmes of Sri Lankan Universities and Higher Education Institutions was developed in order to provide guidance to Universities and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) who wish to submit their programmes of study for review, under the Quality Assurance Framework of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
