Vice-Chancellor’s message – COVID-19 Outbreak Notices | “New Normal”

Dear members of staff and students,

I do hope that this message finds each and every one of you blessed with good health and wellbeing, given that the COVID19 threat is in a heightened status in Colombo. I can assure you that the university administration is giving of its best to ensure that all due processes are in place for your health and safety, while online teaching-learning and staff-student interactions continue as best as we could.

There is no doubt that we all have to get adjusted in our daily lives to adapt to the “new normal” in a sensible and practical manner. Life is full of challenges that we need to face in a calm and collected manner. Many of our staff and students have made written inquiries about the potential for our university-owned property to be acquired.

Given that we are a leading and much-respected state university, please let me assure you that the Rector, Deans, and Directors have been in a continued dialogue over these requests and at every stage along with the advice of the University Council. We have given our best attention to these issues and have conveyed our staff and student needs to the UGC and higher authorities of government.

We shall keep you informed upon receiving any official directive from the UGC.

Stay safe!

Yours truly,
Professor Chandrika Wijeyaratne
Vice-Chancellor
