UOC hosts Milestone Launch of SAJELP and SAELR Volume 2, 2022
On the 9th of February 2023, the Centre for Environmental Justice and Centre for Environmental Law and Policy (CELP), officially launched the South Asian Journal of Environmental Law and Policy (SAJELP) Volume 2, 2022 and the South Asian Environmental Law Report (SAELR) Volume 2, 2022 at the University of Colombo.
The SAJELP and the SAELR are collaboratively developed and published by the Centre for Environmental Law and Policy and the Centre for Environmental Justice. Both SAJELP and SAELR are published annually in both print and virtual forms. The SAJELP attempts to bring into light prominent issues, potential solutions and new developments in the field of environmental law and policy and provides a platform for researchers interested specifically in environmental law and policy to publish. The SAELR intends to not only heighten general awareness among the global legal audience about the rich environmental jurisprudence of South Asia but also to showcase a few selected landmark cases from South Asia that have significantly contributed to the development of the environmental jurisprudence in domestic, regional and global contexts. The SAJELP and the SAELR contribute towards comparative analyses between different legal systems within the region and beyond. The publications aim to create awareness amongst students, civil society groups, and the general public regarding new developments in the field so that they are motivated to get involved in environment-related initiatives.
