The Information Technology Committee advises and recommends the university Council, Senate and the Management on matters relating to university Networks, LMSes, Websites, Software development, IT Hardware and ICT consultation including opportunities to support the University’s strategic plans. The Committee intends to promote effective and efficient IT services that support and facilitates university’s goals related to teaching & learning, research, business & service, and administration for Faculties, Institutes, Campuses, Schools, Library and the College House.
MEMBERS
The Vice-chancellor is the Chairperson of the committee and Rector, Faculty Deans, Director of the UCSC, Director Network Operations Centre (NOC), Librarian, Registrar and Bursar represent as the advisory members. In Addition, Academic, Administrative and Technical representatives are invited to the committee with the recommendation of the individual advisory members as follows.
- One academic staff member and the nomination is optional.
- One administrative staff member.
- Maximum three Technical Representatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All members shall engage in the discussion and make appropriate recommendations based on their skills and experiences. With the demands of subject matters, the responsibilities of the Technical Representatives can be classified as follows.
Designated Staff: Assistant Network Manager, IT Instructor
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Monitoring and maintaining network services including usage and outages
- Documenting network systems and practices
- Working supervision under the Assistant Network Manager/ NOC on projects
- Managing staff & student computer devices including the network connectivity
- Managing staff & student Email, Microsoft Office 365, and Zoom Conferencing
Designated Staff: IT Instructor, Programmer Cum System Analyst
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Establishes and administrate LMSes
- Conduct staff & student training on accessing LMSes
- Analyze performances of LMSes and recommend suitable enhancements
- Working collaborates with the LMS Server Administrator on creating backups and version upgradations
Designated Staff: Programmer Cum System Analyst, IT Instructor
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Establishes and Administrate websites, academic profiles, or custom web-based solutions including, but not limited to, configuration, user interface designing, algorithm designing, testing and user training.
- Recommend new system requirements and technologies to improve staff and the student’s user experience.
Campus, Faculties, Institute or School which does not have the above academic support staff carder positions, the responsibilities can be granted to a nominated permanent technical officer. In order to above subject expert’s duties, all members should engage in following common responsibilities.
- Attend monthly IT Committee meetings (1 hour/month) and follow up with notes and action items.
