Inauguration Ceremony of the Orientation Program for 2021/2022 New Entrants – Faculty of Nursing
The inaugural ceremony for the new entrants to the Faculty of Nursing for the 2021/2022 academic year was held on June 12th, 2023, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The faculty welcomed over 100 new undergraduate students. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor of the University. The welcome speech was delivered by Professor Sudath Warnakulasuriya, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. Dr Rajitha Silva, the Senior Student Counselor of the University, and Mr Lakmal Karunadasa, the Marshal Officer of the faculty, representing the Deputy Chief Marshal of the university, also addressed the gathering.
The ceremony was attended by Mr KAS Edward, the Registrar of the University, and Mrs H.M.D. Sajeewanie D. Somaratna, the Acting Librarian of the University, as well as the Heads of the respective Departments and staff members from the Faculty of Nursing. The event was adorned with recreational items presented by the group of students from the 2020/21 intake. Mrs Sakunthala Samarakoon, Assistant Registrar of the faculty, delivered the vote of thanks for the ceremony.
