Inauguration Ceremony of ACHRML – 2020

The inauguration ceremony of the Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management Law offered by the Department of Private and Comparative Law was held on 28th February 2020 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Law. This course has been designed to provide knowledge in concepts, theories and legal principles of Human Resource Management Law to the participants and to enhance their skills to solve complex problems in the area of Human Resource Management. Detailed knowledge gained through the course on rights and obligations of employers and employees and settlement of industrial disputes will stimulate their attitudinal change towards the promotion of justice at workplaces and industrial peace.

Ms. Udapadie Liyanage, Head of the Department of Private and Comparative Law, delivered the welcome speech. She wished a productive and an enjoyable study for the participants and also placed on record her sincere gratitude to Professor Indira Nayakkara, the dean of the faculty of law for her continuous support and Dr. Rose Wijayasekera, former head of the department, Mr. A. Sarveswaran, senior lecturer of the faculty of law, Ms. Ishakya Udani, the course coordinator, the course team and the non-academic staff members of the department for their untiring efforts in introducing this new course. Mr. Menaka Harankaha, the head of the Department of Commercial Law addressing the gathering on behalf of the Dean of the faculty of law congratulated the Department of private and comparative law for introducing this new course fulfilling the growing demand for an advanced course in Human Resource Management Law in Sri Lanka and stated that the knowledge gained through this course will increase the employment prospects of the participants both locally as well as overseas.

Professor V.T.Thamilmaran, former head of the Department of Public and International Law specified in his speech that the knowledge gained on the legal concepts on Human Resource management will build up self-confidence of the participants enabling them to serve their workplaces well. Mr. A. Sarveswaran, a Senior lecturer of the faculty of law, explaining the objectives of the course reiterated the necessity of having comprehensive knowledge on the legal concepts relating to Human Resouce Management in the modern work world. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the Course  Co-ordinator, Ms. Ishakya Udani.
