UOC signs an MOU with University of Northumbria Newcastle, UK
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Northumbria Newcastle, UK, and the University of Colombo took place in the presence of Professor Andy Long, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Northumbria, and Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo on 26th July 2023 at the Prime Minister’s office in Colombo.
The scope of this agreement is to establish a relationship for collaboration in a broad range of areas and to work together for mutual benefit. The parties may seek to encourage and develop collaborative activities in various ways, including the development of educational and research partnerships, with a specific focus on Postgraduate taught and research studies. Additionally, the collaboration will involve the exchange of scholarly ideas/expertise, support for specific disciplinary interactions, the development of programs, and the provision of advanced entry to Northumbria programs for appropriately qualified students from the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (IBMBB).
This occasion was graced by the presence of Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Acting British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, the Auditor General, the Governor of the Business Management School, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Marketing, University of Sri Jayawardenepura, the Director of IBMBB, and other distinguished guests.
