UOC signs an MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and the University of Colombo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marked the beginning of a new chapter in academic partnership. The MoU was signed by Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, and Professor Raghunathan Rengaswamy, the Dean of Global Engagement at IIT Madras on the 03 of February 2023.
Mr Aravind Krishnan, a representative of the Office of Global Engagement at IIT, Madras, attended the MoU signing ceremony in person while the Dean of Global Engagement, Professor Preeti Aghalayam and Ms Deepa Maria Alexander, International Academic Programs attached to the Office of Global Engagement at IIT, Madras attended the ceremony online. Representing the University of Colombo, The Director of the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (IBMBB) Professor Prasanna Galhena, Professor P. A. Nimal Punyasiri, The Director of International Office, Professor Sashika Manoratne and The Registrar of the University, Mr K. A. S. Edward were present.
The collaboration between the two institutions will pursue possibilities of joint teaching and learning opportunities and conducting research in both natural sciences and humanities. After the meeting, Mr Aravind met a team of postgraduate students at the IBMBB to further explore future possibilities and options for collaborating in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology.
