University of Colombo to train statisticians of National Bureau of Statistics, Maldives and Maldivian National University under UNFPA funding

A delegation from National Bureau of Statistics, Maldives and Maldivian National University led by Dr. Raheema , Dean of Research Maldivian National University visited University of Colombo  on 06 September 2017. The UNFPA resident representative to Maldives and representatives from UNFPA office, Colombo also accompanied the delegation.

The purpose of this visit was to initiate joint projects where University of Colombo will offer training programs for the staff of National Bureau of Statistics, Maldives to build the capacity of the statisticians and will offer few certificate level, undergraduate and postgraduate level programs for Maldivian National University.

Professor Lakhman Dissanayake , Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo expressed his sincere willingness to offer course modules and expertise knowledge to  National Bureau of Statistics, Maldives and Maldivian National University.

Dr. Diharee Attygalle, Head, Dept. of Statistics, Dr. Sunethra Perera, Head, Dept. of Demography, Dr. Kumudika Byagoda and Dr. Manori Weerathunga, Dept. of Demography, University of Colombo accompanied the Vice Chancellor during the meeting.
