Grantsmanship workshop – Successful grant writing: principles, pearls & pitfalls

The University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell hosted ‘A Workshop on Successful Grant Writing: Principles, Pearls and Pitfalls’, its inaugural event, on 30th August 2019 at the Senate Hall of University of Colombo. The Workshop that was widely attended by young academic staff representing all Faculties of the University lead by the Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Chandrika N Wijeyaratne. The Workshop sessions were conducted by leading academics versatile in grants and proposal writing. Professor Shervanthi Homer-Vanniasinkam, Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Leeds General Infirmary and Professor at several Universities in England including University College London delivered the inaugural session followed by a session on ‘Conducting a Prior Art Search’ by Dr. M.N. Kaumal, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Colombo Science and Technology Cell at University of Colombo, and another on ‘Protecting University Innovation, IP Tools and Commercialization’ by Dr. N. Sampath Punchihewa, Director, UBL Cell.
