The Opening of the CCIS Corner at the Main Library

The Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies (CCIS) transferred its library collection to the Main Library of the University on October 16, 2023. The collection was officially handed over to the Library by Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor of the University. Dr Satyanjal Pandey, the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, was present to witness this transfer and to record His Excellency’s appreciation. The event was attended by the Deans of Faculties, Mrs Sajeewanie D. Somaratna, the Acting Librarian, Dr U. P. Prasad Serasinghe, the Acting Director of the CCIS, and various staff members. The CCIS library collection comprises over a thousand books in English, Sinhala, and Hindi, covering a wide range of topics including history, arts, political science, international relations, economics, culture, biographies, and more. It is important to note that this collection is now available for reference, both to CCIS researchers and any users of the University of Colombo library.
