International Students’ Day
The inaugural International Students’ Day of the University of Colombo, organized by the International Office, took place on August 8th, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the College House Auditorium. The event occurred in a hybrid format with the participation of both current international students and alumni from around the world. Currently, the International Office supports more than two hundred international students, the highest number ever recorded, who are primarily enrolled in the Faculties of Arts, Management and Finance, Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The event was graced by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, the Deans of the faculties, the Directors of the institutes, the Registrar, the Director of the International Office, and university staff members. An array of performances were lined up, including cultural displays such as a lion dance performed by postgraduate Chinese students, a Bhutanese dance by undergraduate students, and talks delivered by student leaders representing the three chapters of the newly established International Student Associations of the University, which added vibrancy to the event.
