Faculty of Management & Finance was crowned the Overall Champions in the Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship 2022
Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship – 2022 was held from 27th of August to 11th of September 2022 at University of Colombo premises. This time Inter Faculty Freshers Championship was organized after 2019 by overcoming all barriers with the effort of the entire university community. A total of 10 Institutions of University of Colombo including One Campus, Seven faculties, and two institutes competed for the crown of Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship 2022. The championship was held for 15 days in a total of 26 sports. This year freshers got a chance to showcase their talent in 26 sports. Compared to previous Inter Faculty Freshers Championships, Boxing, Kabaddi (Men/ Women), Cricket (Women), Football (Women), Powerlifting (Men/Women) and Tag Rugby (Women) have been introduced to Inter Faculty Freshers Championship 2022.
More than 2000 freshers’ students were fighting to bring glory to their Faculty/ Campus/ Institute. After a very tense battle of 15 days, the Faculty of Management and Finance was crowned the Overall Champions with 351 points while the University of Colombo School of Computing won overall Runners-up with 320.5 points. Also, the Faculty of Management & Finance won the Women’s Championship. Further, the Faculty of Science grabbed the overall 2nd runners-up position with 316 points and the men’s Championship. The Awarding Ceremony of Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship was held on the 11th of September 2022 at the Indoor Gymnasium of the University of Colombo under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, as the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Chairman Sports Advisory Board, Deans of Faculties, Director of Institutes, Acting Director of Physical Education, Members of Sports Advisory Board and many invitees also participated in the ceremony.
