HRDC Hosts Capacity Development Program for Non-Academic Staff

The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) recently conducted a successful two-day Capacity Development Program for non-academic staff on the 3rd and 9th of October 2024. The program, which focused on enhancing workplace productivity and improving service delivery, saw participation from approximately 130 staff members from various faculties across the University. Additionally, there were 10 participants from the National Police Academy and representatives from the Institute of Chemistry of Ceylon, making the event a diverse and engaging learning experience.

The sessions were led by distinguished resource persons, Dr Maringa Sumanadasa, a retired SLAS officer, Attorney-at-Law, and former Secretary, and Mrs Peral Weerasinghe, a retired SLAS officer, former Secretary, and Commissioner General of Labour. Their extensive experience provided participants with practical insights into improving workplace efficiency and delivering high-quality service.

The event was coordinated by Mr Joseph Francis, Short Course and Workshop Coordinator at the HRDC, under the leadership of Senior Professor S P Premaratna, Director of the HRDC. Both expressed their appreciation for the dedicated participation and emphasized the critical role of ongoing professional development in maintaining the university’s service standards. The HRDC is dedicated to organizing similar programs in the future, aiming to further enhance the skills and productivity of non-academic staff, ensuring that the University of Colombo continues to be a leading institution in higher education in Sri Lanka.
