The Department of Sociology will be organizing the monthly seminar on 2nd July 2018 (Monday) from 1.30 p.m. – 3.00 p.m in the Seminar Room of the Department of Sociology. At this seminar, Dr. Dilshani Sarathchandra, an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Idaho, USA, will deliver the lecture on “ “In Science We Trust: Public Trust in Science and Scientists in the United States”.
Dilshani Sarathchandra is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Idaho, USA. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biotechnology from University of Colombo, and Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology from Michigan State University. Her research focuses on the production, use and perception of science, with an emphasis on decision – making in science and predictors of public attitudes toward science and scientists. Dr. Sarathchandra teaches courses in science and technology studies, research methods, and social data analysis. She is affiliated with the Environmental Science and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies programs at the University of Idaho, and serves as an advisor on the Idaho State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
