The Beijing Opera is referred to as the quintessence of China. As the largest Chinese opera form, it is extolled as ‘Oriental Opera’. This opera form has a history of 160 years and has created many ‘firsts’ in Chinese drama. Beijing Opera is developed from absorbing many other dramatic forms. It is a scenic art integrating music, performance, literature, aria, and face-painting.
The Confucius Institute, Faculty of Arts will be hosting the Beijing Opera Troupe on 22nd June 2017, from 3.00 to 4.30 pm. at the New Arts Theatre (NAT), University of Colombo.
