Annual Research Symposium 2020, Faculty of Nursing
The 3rd Annual Research Symposium 2020 was organized by Faculty of Nursing under the theme of “Strengthening Nursing Education for Emerging Health System Challenges”, on 18th December 2020 at faculty premises via virtual mode. Faculty of Nursing annually conducts the research symposium for disseminating the research activities of academic of Faculty of Nursing as well as the students supervised by the academics. Annual Research Symposium provides a good platform for both academics and their students for sharing their research findings related to all areas of health especially NCDs, mental health, maternal and child health, nutrition, sexual health and elderly care with the research experts, colleagues as well as with the stakeholders.
Annual research symposium 2020 was commenced with Welcome address by Dr. SSP Warnakulasuriya, Dean, Faculty of Nursing. Senior Professor Chandrika Wijeyaratne, Vice-Chancellor, University of Colombo delivered the Chief Guest address. Traditionally, the inaugural ceremony featured a Keynote address on ‘Strengthening Nursing education for Emerging Health System Challenges’ was delivered by Senior Professor A.R. Wickremasinghe, Professor of Public Health, Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya. In addition, plenary speech on ‘the role of ICT in Health Care for Emerging Challenges’ was delivered by Prof. K. P. Hewagamage, Professor in Computer Science, University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), University of Colombo. The inaugural ceremony was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. G Kisokanth, Chairperson (Senior Lecturer/Head, Department of Clinical Nursing), Annual Research Symposium – 2020, Faculty of Nursing. The next session after the inaugural event was dedicated to the technical presentations of the research symposium 2020.
