Workshop on ‘Collaborative Cohort PhDs at QUT – Phase II’
One of our University’s global collaborators, Dr. Tony Sahama from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, conducted a workshop on ‘Collaborative Cohort PhDs at QUT- Phase II’ at the Senate Hall of University of Colombo on 25th of August 2015 for the junior academic staff members (probationary lecturers) of Sri Lankan Universities. Prof. P. S. M. Gunaratne, Vice Chairperson of University Grants Commission, Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor of University of Colombo, Prof. K.R.R.Mahanama, Dr. Sampath Seneviratne and many senior and junior academic staff members from University of Colombo and other Universities participated at the event. This workshop is the second phase of a joint project between University Grants Commissions (UGC) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia on higher degree research (HDR), and research collaborations among Sri Lankan Universities. The workshop opened up several opportunities for junior academic staff members (probationary lecturers) of our University system who are keen on studying for their PhDs at QUT. The event was organized by the International Unit of University of Colombo.
