Visit from Uppsala University, Sweden

Senior Professor Peter Wallensteen visited University of Colombo on 07.02.2020 and met Senior Professor Chandrika N Wijeyaratne, the Vice-Chancellor. Professor Wallensteen is attached to the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University and is a world-renowned specialist on the United Nations and Peace Studies. He also a Professor Emeritus, University of Notre Dame, Netherlands since 2018 and Research Professor of Peace Studies, Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA, since 2006. The Vice-Chancellor warmly welcomed Professor Wallensteen to the University of Colombo and gave a brief insight on the profile of University of Colombo. Professor Wallensteen shared his experiences in Peace and Conflict Research and disused possible arenas of collaborations with University of Colombo. Dr. Maneesha Pasquale; Head, Department of International Relations, Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri; Head Department of History, Dr. Nirmali Wijegoonawardana and Dr. Sashika Manoratne; Director, International Office accompanied the Vice-Chancellor at the meeting. Professor Wallensteen delivered a guest lecture at the Senate Hall, University of Colombo. The guest lecturer has been organized by the Department of International Relations.
