Seminar on “The Politics of Memory and a Critique of Transitional Justice”
Department of Political Science and Public Policy, University of Colombo organized a Seminar on “The Politics of Memory and a Critique of Transitional Justice” On Wednesday 3rd June 2015, at 3.30 p.m , Room No 226, Faculty of Arts.
It was a discussion of David Scott’s new book, Omens of Adversity: Tragedy, Time, Memory, Justice by Thushara Hewage (Assistant Professor of Anthropologyat the University of Ottawa) and Ahilan Kadirgamar (PhD candidate at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) and a member of the Collective for Economic Democratization in Sri Lanka).. The book is centered on the collapse of the Grenada Revolution (1979-1983) and engagement with issues of political action, memory and transitional justice.
