UOC Retains Top Spot in Sri Lanka in QS World University Rankings 2026
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released its World University Rankings 2026 on 19th June 2025, featuring 1501 institutions from 106 locations worldwide. The QS Rankings serve as a globally recognised benchmark for evaluating universities based on five key indicators: Research and Discovery, Employability and Outcomes, Learning Experience, Global Engagement, and Sustainability.
Four Sri Lankan universities are featured in this year’s rankings: University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa, and University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Among them, the University of Colombo continues to lead nationally, maintaining its status as the highest-ranked institution in Sri Lanka with a global placement in the 1001–1200 band. This year, QS introduced a new unweighted indicator titled International Student Diversity, which is already part of the methodology in the QS Europe Rankings. Under this indicator, the University of Colombo has been placed in the 801+ band globally.
