The Opening Ceremony of the lecture Hall 233 and the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Police

The Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Arts held the opening of Lecture Hall 233, funded by the Institute, together with the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Vocational Chinese Language Course for the Sri Lanka Police on 1st September 2025. The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, officials from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, and senior representatives of the Sri Lanka Police.
Also present were Dr S M Thenabadu, Sri Lankan Director, and Professor Lei Mingzhen, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute. The program featured welcome and keynote addresses, cultural performances by students, and a speech from a participant sharing his learning experience. Certificates were awarded to students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, plaque presentations, and refreshments, marking a significant step in strengthening ties between the Confucius Institute, the Chinese Embassy, and the Sri Lanka Police, while promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
