Excellence in Teaching: HRDC’s 27th Certificate Award Ceremony

The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) held its 27th Certificate Award Ceremony on 10th September 2025 at the Senate Hall. Certificates were awarded to 55 participants of the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) program, of whom 54 also received accreditation from the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA), UK. In addition, 16 participants completed the Making Teaching Effective (MaTE) program.
The ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake (Chief Guest), Senior Professor S P Premaratna (Director, HRDC), university officials, deans, course coordinators, and resource persons. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the importance of excellence in teaching, learning, and research, while Senior Professor Premaratna highlighted the role of professional development in building academic capacity. The event marked another milestone in HRDC’s mission to advance higher education through staff training, capacity development, and innovative teaching practices.
