D. P. P. Samarasekara Peace Prize - General Convocation 2023

Congratulations to Mr Gajaba Senaratne from the Faculty of Management and Finance for her remarkable achievement in receiving the Open Awards – D. P. P. Samarasekara Peace Prize at the General Convocation 2023.

Mr Senaratne is recognized for his remarkable dedication to community service and leadership. As the President of the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Management and Finance (2022-2023), he spearheaded numerous impactful projects. Currently, he serves as the second in command for the entire Rotaract movement in Sri Lanka and Maldives, overseeing efforts that touch the lives of thousands.
His initiatives include Project Sisuwara, which provides daily lunches to underprivileged schools across Sri Lanka, ensuring that students have access to the nutrition they need to stay focused and succeed academically. Additionally, Project Gamwardhanya focuses on uplifting rural communities, particularly in Bibile, Monaragala, by improving livelihoods, access to clean water, and creating sustainable development opportunities.
Mr Senaratne also played a key role in organizing the annual “What’s Next?” Career Fair, an event that helped bridge the gap between education and employment by offering valuable internship opportunities for undergraduates.
