
Department of Management and Organisation Studies Hosts FUTURENZA 2.0: A Celebration of Learning, Creativity, and Collaboration
The Department of Management and Organisation Studies (MOS) at the Faculty of Management and Finance concluded its annual departmental event, FUTURENZA 2.0, held on 29th October 2025 under the inspiring theme of “A celebration of learning, creativity and collaboration.” The event was a testament to the Department’s commitment to fostering both academic excellence and practical, entrepreneurial skills among its undergraduates. The esteemed event was graced by the Chief Guest, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University, alongside Professor H M Nihal Hennayake, Dean of the Faculty, and many esteemed faculty members.
A key highlight of FUTURENZA 2.0 was the official launch of Volume 2 and Issue 2 of ‘MOS Review,’ the Department’s bi-annual publication. This research platform is a collaborative effort, providing both students and staff with an avenue to publish their research. The edition was formally handed over by Professor Sashika Manoratne, Head of the MOS Department, to the Vice Chancellor, symbolising the Department’s dedication to research excellence.
The grand finale of the much-anticipated Business Idea Competition (BIC) 2025 also took centre stage. This flagship event encourages undergraduates across the Faculty of Management and Finance to develop and present innovative business proposals. After a competitive final round, the first prize was awarded to “Modesta Lanka – Gulf style modesty with Sri Lankan heritage textiles”, followed by “Casia special – Premium distilled white arrack” and “Gift Travel – Customizable travel packages presented as unique gifts”, securing the second and third places respectively.
In addition to the focus on entrepreneurship and academic research, the event celebrated the aesthetic talents within the faculty by hosting the grand finale of the Creative Writing and Poetry Competition. The competition, which was conducted in Sinhala, Tamil, and English languages, successfully illuminated the hidden literary skills of the undergraduates, showcasing the diverse talents and creativity thriving within the Faculty of Management and Finance.
FUTURENZA 2.0 was an inspiring day that successfully underscored the department’s role in empowering students and fostering a dynamic community of future leaders and changemakers, built upon the pillars of learning, creativity, and collaboration.
