Faculty of Medicine Hosts Diploma and Certificate Awards Ceremony & Inauguration of July 2024 Intake
The Postgraduate Programs Committee of the Faculty of Medicine successfully held the Diploma and Certificate Awards Ceremony, alongside the Inauguration of the July 2024 Intake for Postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development Courses, on August 7th, 2024. The event took place in the Main Auditorium of the UCFM Tower, Faculty of Medicine.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Senior Professor (Chair) H D Karunaratne, Vice-Chancellor of the University, who delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning and professional development in the medical field. The keynote address was delivered by Senior Professor (Chair) Chandu de Silva from the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, whose expertise and insights greatly enriched the event.
During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to students who completed the following programs:
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- Certificate Course in Wound Care and Limb Salvage
- Certificate Course in Laboratory Andrology
- Training Program in Clinical Genetics & Genomics
The event also marked the inauguration of twelve postgraduate and certificate programs, welcoming a new cohort of students. The inaugurated programs include:
- Master of Science in Occupational Health and Safety
- Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Postgraduate Diploma in Health Development
- Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Quality & Patient Safety
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Diploma in Cross-border Healthcare
- Diploma in Infection Prevention & Control
- Diploma in Infectious Diseases and Global Health
- Certificate Course in Laboratory Andrology
- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Certificate Course in Intrapartum CTG
- Certificate Course in Clinical Genetics & Genomics
This ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the graduating students but also welcomed a new intake of learners into the Faculty of Medicine’s postgraduate programs, continuing the University of Colombo’s tradition of excellence in medical education.
