FIM Establishes Career Guidance Unit (CGU) and Unit for Research and Development of Natural Products (URDNP)
The Faculty of Indigenous Medicine (FIM) marked a significant milestone in its continued growth and commitment to excellence with the establishment of the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) and the Unit for Research and Development of Natural Products (URDNP). This is a major step forward in enhancing the faculty’s capabilities and offering an improved experience for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The URDNP is a testament to this commitment, serving as a hub for strategic alliances between academics, government authorities, and the pharmaceutical industry. The Unit aims to lead research and development efforts, focusing on the commercialization of natural products derived from local traditional knowledge, medicinal plants, minerals, and animal products.
The opening ceremony took place on 27th August 2024, graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H D Karunaratne, Dean Professor P K Perera, and staff members of the faculty.
