
Nurturing Tomorrow’s Tech Leaders: Faculty of Technology Welcomes 325 New Students to Drive Sri Lanka’s Innovation and Development
In a significant step toward shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s technological advancement, the Faculty of Technology ceremonially inaugurated its Orientation Program for the 2024/2025 academic year on June 17, 2025. Held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), this milestone event marked the official welcome of 325 bright and ambitious new students to the Bachelor of Technology degree programs.
As Sri Lanka moves towards a knowledge-driven economy, the need for skilled technology professionals has never been greater. These students represent the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers, poised to contribute to national development through cutting-edge solutions in agriculture, environmental management, and automation.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor R U K Piyadasa – Dean, Faculty of Technology, Professor J K D S Jayanetti– Founder Dean, Faculty of Technology, the Registrar, Bursar, Dr Rajitha Silva – Senior Student Counsellor, the Chief Marshal Officer, along with staff members.
The enthusiastic participation of students and their proud parents added energy and warmth to the occasion, officially integrating the new cohort into the university community.
Students were enrolled in the following technology degree programs:
- Bachelor of Biosystems Technology Honours in Agriculture
- Bachelor of Biosystems Technology Honours in Environmental Technology
- Bachelor of Engineering Technology Honours in Instrumentation and Automation
