The Alumni Association of the Univeristy of Colombo which is the apex Alumni Body of the University of Colombo completes 40 years this year since its formation in 1982.
The Alumni Association of the Univeristy of Colombo was a special initiative of the Vice Chancellor at the time, Professor Stanley Wijesundera who believed that a formalized Alumni Body was essential for the University of Colombo.
Given Professor Stanley Wijesundera’s interest in seeing that this Alumni body stays strong and closely connected with the University for an infinite future, it was Professor Wijesundera’s concept to include the Vice Chancellor as the Ex-Officio President of the Association.
The Flagship project of the Alumni Association was the construction of a (4) four story Hostel Complex for Female Undergraduates at Bullers Lane, Colombo 7 and was handed over in 1996 to the then Vice Chancellor Prof. W.D. Lakshman by the then President of the Association the Late Mrs. Sujata Jayawardena. This Hostel complex which accommodates more than 400 students at a time has served the University of Colombo for more than 25 years.
The Alumni Association has presently taken up the task of constructing a 50 Meter Professional Swimming Pool for the University of Colombo and with the receipt of the detailed architectural plans recently, is set to commence work in the near future.
In addition to these mega Projects, the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo serves as an important conduit between the Alumni, University of Colombo and its Student population and in the past 40 years has rendered immeasurable service to these stakeholders. Other Projects include Friend and Guide Schemes, Granting Scholarships, Professional Development Programmes, Language Programmes; Annual Events such as the Sujata Jayawardena Memorial Oration, the operation of the University of Colombo Bookshop and other networking, professional and academic development events.
The Past Presidents of the Alumni Association were Mr. Tissa Devendra, Mrs. Sujata Jayawardena, Mr. Yogendra Duraiswamy, Dr. Dudley Gunasekera, Mr. J. Charitha Ratwatte, Mr. Thilak Karunaratne, Mrs. Ramanee Amarasuriya, Mr. P.W. Senaratne and Mr. Lakshman Keerthisinghe and presently, Mr. Rajeev Amarasuriya is the President.
The first event for the 40th Anniversary Celebrations will be the launch of the new re-vamped Website and Membership portal of the Alumni Association that will take place on Tuesday, 15th February 2022 at the College House, University of Colombo, with the Chief guest, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo and Foreign Minister Hon. Prof. G L Peiris.
All graduates, post-graduates and all those who have completed a course at the University of Colombo are Associate Members of the Alumni Association and are encouraged to up-date their information on the Alumni Membership Portal that will be launched on Tuesday.

වර්ෂ 1982 දී ආරම්භ කළ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමය වන කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමය (The Alumni Association of the Univeristy of Colombo) මේ වසරට වසර 40ක් සම්පූර්ණ කරයි.
කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමය, එවකට උපකුලපතිවරයා වූ මහාචාර්ය ස්ටැන්ලි විජේසුන්දර මහතාගේ විශේෂ මුල පිරීමෙන් බිහිවූ අතර වූ අතර, ඔහු කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට විධිමත් ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයක් අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බව විශ්වාස කළේය.
මෙම ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සුබ සිද්දිය උදෙසා කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය හා සමීපව බැඳී පවතිනු දැකීම අවශ්‍යය යන මහාචාර්ය විජේසුන්දර මහතාගේ සංකල්පයක් මත කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ උපකුලපතිවරයා කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ නිල බලයෙන් පත්වන උප සභාපතිවරයකු ලෙස ඇතුළත් කෙරිණ.
බුලර්ස් පටුමගෙහි කාන්තා ශිෂ්‍යාවන් සඳහා සිව්මහල් නේවාසිකාගාර සංකීර්ණයක් ඉදිකිරීම, කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ ප්‍රධාන ව්‍යාපෘතියක්වූ අතර එය වර්ෂ 1996 දී එවකට ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපතිවරිය වූ සුජාතා ජයවර්ධන මහත්මිය විසින් එවකට උපකුලපති මහාචාර්ය ඩබ්ලිව් ඩී ලක්ෂ්මන් වෙත භාර දෙන ලදී. සිසුන් 400 කට වැඩි පිරිසකට එකවර නවාතැන් ගත හැකි මෙම නේවාසිකාගාර සංකීර්ණය වසර 25 කට වැඩි කාලයක් කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට දායකත්වය සපයා ඇත.
කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය සඳහා මීටර 50ක වෘත්තීය පිහිනුම් තටාකයක් ඉදිකිරීමේ කාර්යය ආදි ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමය විසින් මේ වන විට භාරගෙන ඇති අතර සවිස්තරාත්මක වාස්තු විද්‍යාත්මක සැලසුම් පසුගියදා ලැබීමත් සමඟ එහි වැඩකටයුතු ඉදිරියේදී ආරම්භ කිරීමට නියමිතය .
ඉහත කී ව්‍යාපෘතිවලට අමතරව, පසුගිය වසර 40 තුළ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමය විසින් කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය සහ එහි ශිෂ්‍ය ප්‍රජාව ඒකාබද්ධ කරමින් අපමණ සේවාවක් ඉටු කර ඇත.
අනෙකුත් ව්‍යාපෘති අතර මාර්ගෝපදේශක යෝජනා ක්‍රම, ශිෂ්‍යත්ව ප්‍රදානය කිරීම, වෘත්තීය සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහන් , භාෂා වැඩසටහන් ; වාර්ෂික සුජාතා ජයවර්ධන අනුස්මරණ දේශනය, කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ පොත්හල ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සහ වෘත්තීය සහ ශාස්ත්‍රීය සංවර්ධන කටයුතු වැනි වාර්ෂික ව්‍යාපෘති ප්‍රධාන වේ.
වර්තමානයේ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති ලෙස රජීව් අමරසූරිය මහතා කටයුතු කරන අතර පෙර සභාපතිවරුන්/වරියන් ලෙස තිස්ස දේවේන්ද්‍ර මහතා, සුජාතා ජයවර්ධන මහත්මිය, යෝගේන්ද්‍ර දුරෙයිස්වාමි මහතා , ආචාර්ය ඩඩ්ලි ගුණසේකර මහතා, ජේ. චරිත රත්වත්තේ මහතා, තිලක් කරුණාරත්න මහතා, රමණී අමරසූරිය මහත්මිය, පී. ඩබ්ලිව් සේනාරත්න මහතා සහ ලක්ෂ්මන් කීර්තිසිංහ මහතා යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන් කටයුතු කර ඇත.
කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයට හතලිස් වසරක් පිරීම නිමිතිකොට සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන උත්සවයේ සමාරම්භක අංගය ලෙස නවීකරණය කරන ලද ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ වෙබ්අඩවිය සහ සාමාජික ද්වාරය එළිදැක්වීම වර්ෂ 2022 ක් වූ පෙබරවාරි මස 15 වන දින, කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ හිටපු උපකුලපති, විදේශ අමාත්‍ය මහාචාර්ය ජී. එල්. පීරිස් මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් කොළඹ විද්‍යාලීය ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්වේ.
සියලුම උපාධිධාරීන්, පශ්චාත් උපාධිධාරීන් සහ කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ පාඨමාලාවක් සම්පූර්ණ කළ සියලුම දෙනා කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ ආශ්‍රිත සාමාජිකයින් (Associate Members) වන අතර වර්ෂ 2022 ක් වූ පෙබරවාරි මස 15 වන අඟහරුවාදා දින දියත් කෙරෙන ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සාමාජිකත්ව ද්වාරයේ තොරතුරු යාවත්කාලීන කිරීමට උනන්දු කරනු ලැබේ.

கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் பழைய மாணவர் சங்கம், 1982 ஆம் ஆண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டு இந்த ஆண்டுடன் 40 வருடங்களை நிறைவு செய்கிறது.
கொழும்புப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் பழைய மாணவர் சங்கமானது, கொழும்புப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்கு முறைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட பழைய மாணவர்களின் உடலமைப்பு இன்றியமையாதது என நம்பிய அன்றைய துணைவேந்தரான பேராசிரியர் ஸ்டான்லி விஜேசுந்தரவின் விசேட முயற்சியாகும்.
பேராசிரியர் ஸ்டான்லி விஜேசுந்தரவின் இந்த பழைய மாணவர் அமைப்பு வலுவாகவும், எல்லையற்ற எதிர்காலத்திற்காக பல்கலைக்கழகத்துடன் நெருக்கமாகவும் இணைந்திருப்பதைக் காணும் ஆர்வத்தின் அடிப்படையில், துணைவேந்தரை சங்கத்தின் முன்னாள் உத்தியோகபூர்வ தலைவராக சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்பது பேராசிரியர் விஜேசுந்தரவின் கருத்தாகும்.
முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கத்தின் முதன்மைத் திட்டமானது, கொழும்பு 7, புல்லர்ஸ் லேனில், பெண் இளங்கலைப் பட்டதாரிகளுக்கான (4) நான்கு அடுக்கு விடுதி வளாகத்தை நிர்மாணித்து, 1996 ஆம் ஆண்டு அப்போதைய சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் மறைந்த திருமதி சுஜாதா ஜெயவர்தனவால் அப்போதைய துணைவேந்தர் பேராசிரியர் டபிள்யூ.டி.லக்ஷ்மணிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. ஒரே நேரத்தில் 400க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்கள் தங்கும் இந்த விடுதி வளாகம் 25 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் சேவையாற்றி வருகிறது.
பழைய மாணவர் சங்கம் தற்போது கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்காக 50 மீற்றர் நிபுணத்துவ நீச்சல் தடாகத்தை நிர்மாணிக்கும் பணியை முன்னெடுத்துள்ளதுடன் விரிவான கட்டடக்கலைத் திட்டங்களை அண்மையில் பெற்றுக்கொண்டதன் மூலம் எதிர்வரும் காலங்களில் பணிகளை ஆரம்பிக்கவுள்ளது.
இந்த மகத்தான திட்டங்களுக்கு மேலதிகமாக, கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் பழைய மாணவர் சங்கம் பழைய மாணவர்கள், கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகம் மற்றும் அதன் மாணவர் மக்களுக்கு இடையே ஒரு முக்கிய வழித்தடமாக செயல்படுகிறது மற்றும் கடந்த 40 ஆண்டுகளில் இந்த பங்குதாரர்களுக்கு அளவிட முடியாத சேவையை செய்துள்ளது. மற்ற திட்டங்களில் Friend and Guide திட்டங்கள், உதவித்தொகை வழங்குதல், தொழில்முறை மேம்பாட்டு திட்டங்கள், மொழி திட்டங்கள்; சுஜாதா ஜயவர்தன நினைவு சொற்பொழிவு, கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழக புத்தக நிலையத்தின் செயல்பாடு மற்றும் பிற வலையமைப்பு, தொழில்சார் மற்றும் கல்வி வளர்ச்சி நிகழ்வுகள் போன்ற வருடாந்த நிகழ்வுகள்.
முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கத்தின் முன்னாள் தலைவர்களாக திரு.திஸ்ஸ தேவேந்திரா, திருமதி சுஜாதா ஜயவர்தன, திரு.யோகேந்திர துரைசுவாமி, கலாநிதி டட்லி குணசேகர, திரு.ஜே.சரித ரத்வத்த, திரு.திலக் கருணாரத்ன, திருமதி.ரமணி அமரசூரிய, திரு.P.W. சேனாரத்ன மற்றும் திரு.லக்ஷ்மன் கீர்த்திசிங்க மற்றும் தற்போது, திரு.ரஜீவ் அமரசூரிய ஆகியோர் ஜனாதிபதியாக உள்ளனர்.
40வது ஆண்டு நிறைவு விழாவின் முதல் நிகழ்வாக, பழைய மாணவர் சங்கத்தின் புதிய இணையத்தளம் மற்றும் அங்கத்துவ போர்டல் அறிமுகம், 15 பெப்ரவரி 2022 செவ்வாய்க் கிழமை, கொழும்பு கல்லூரி இல்லப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில், பிரதம அதிதியாக, முன்னாள் கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் வேந்தரும் தற்போது வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சருமான கௌரவ. பேராசிரியர் ஜி எல் பீரிஸ் வருகை தருவார.
அனைத்து பட்டதாரிகள், முதுகலை பட்டதாரிகள் மற்றும் கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் படிப்பை முடித்த அனைவரும் சங்கத்தின் இணை உறுப்பினர்களாக உள்ளனர், மேலும் வரும் செவ்வாய்கிழமை தொடங்கப்படும் உறுப்பினர் போர்ட்டலில் தங்கள் தகவல்களை புதுப்பித்துக்கொள்ள ஊக்குவிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
