Development of a Mushroom Bag Filling Machine
The machine has been developed by Mr. G. Pathum Hashan an undergraduate in the seventh batch of the Institute of Agro-Technology and Rural Sciences (UCIARS) as a manually operated machine with 25% efficiency. He is planning to convert this manually operated machine to an electrical version. This machine fills 400 polythene bags per day and it costs only about 2.50 Rs to fill a bag. Whereas, in the manual filling, it is about 100 bags per day and costs about 10 Rs per bag. This machine has been developed by this student as a part of his study programme at the institute and presently he is an entrepreneur mainly engaged with mushroom production.
