The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the British Council have partnered to establish the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Cohort, supporting 26 researchers to bring local knowledge to a global stage in the lead-up to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).  Dr. Kokila Konasinghe, a senior lecturer at the Department of Public and International Law of the Faculty of Law and Dr. Iroja Caldera, a senior lecturer at the Department of Plant Sciences of the Faculty of Science, from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka have been selected as members of the cohort through a highly competitive application process open for over 500 member universities of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Throughout 2021, this diverse cohort is expected to build international collaborations and work with experts, to influence climate and environment-related issues in their communities and beyond.  The cohort convenes researchers with expertise in a range of disciplines and the members of the cohort are based in 25 ACU member universities from 16 countries.
