Commencement Lecture for MBBS Programme Advanced Level 2022 Batch
The Commencement Lecture of the MBBS Programme for the Advanced Level 2022 batch students took place on 19th February 2024 at the main auditorium of the UCFM Tower, Faculty of Medicine. Dr Ananda Wijewickrama, Consultant Physician at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), graced the occasion as the Commencement Lecturer. A distinguished alumnus of the Faculty, he is also the current President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) and the Chairman of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA). Drawing from his wealth of experience as a clinician and leader in the medical community, Dr Wijewickrama offered invaluable insights into the multifaceted role of medical professionals and the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery.
The event was also graced by Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University, and Professor Vidya Jothi Vajira HW Dissanayake, Dean of the Faculty, emphasizing the academic significance of the occasion. The distinguished assembly included Professor Indika Karunathilake, the President of the Faculty of Medicine Teachers Association, and other staff members of the Faculty of Medicine.
