University of Colombo Dominates Rajarata University by 9 Wickets in Interuniversity Cricket Championship 2026

The University of Colombo produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Rajarata University of Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in the Interuniversity Cricket Championship 2026 at the Rajarata University Grounds on 16 August 2026. After winning the toss, Rajarata elected to bat first, but their innings got off to the worst possible start when Mr Thewin Amarasinghe struck early, removing both openers. Colombo’s spin attack then took complete control, with Mr Sajitha Vithanage and Mr Devindu Kekirideniya dismantling the middle and lower order, claiming 4 wickets each with their left-arm spin. Rajarata were eventually bowled out for just 67 runs in 23.2 overs.
In reply, Colombo made light work of the target. Openers Mr Thewin Amarasinghe (37* not out) and Mr Anishka De Zoysa (27) laid a solid foundation as Colombo comfortably chased down the total in 13.1 overs, losing only one wicket.
