Annual waste survey of the University of Colombo (Colombo 03 premises) was conducted by the Center for Environmental Initiatives during August 17th to 24th 2023. Over 30 student volunteers from different faculties participated in the event. During one whole week, the students were measuring the daily amounts of waste generated in different faculties, institute/s, and University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) at Colombo 03 premises, including the canteens. The amounts of different types of waste (i.e.. organic (food- and yard waste), paper, plastic, etc.), were measured and recorded for further analyses of waste by type and total, to evaluate the trend/s.
