Letter of Intent Signed Between Qilu University of Technology, China and the University of Colombo

A delegation from the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Qilu University of Technology, China, visited the University of Colombo on 2 July 2026, marking a significant step toward strengthening research ties between the two institutions. The delegation was led by Professor Xiao Wang, Director of the Shandong Analysis and Test Centre. It included Professor Shanshan Wang, Professor Wei Liu, Professor Jinqian Yu, and Professor Xiangrong Chen. Qilu University of Technology has an established record of research collaboration with the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo, and will be further advancing joint research, with a particular focus on nutraceuticals.
During the visit, the delegation met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake; the Registrar, Ms K.C. Sanjeevani Perera; the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Professor Kanchana Abeysekera; Head of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Dr Aruna Kumara, Dr Asanka Tennakoon and the Director of the International Office, Dr Iroja Caldera. During the meeting, a Letter of Intent was signed between the two universities to consolidate ongoing collaboration and explore new areas of research based on their shared strengths.
