Strengthening Regional Academic Ties: Maldives National University Delegation Visits University of Colombo
The University of Colombo hosted a delegation from the Maldives National University on 21st May 2026. The visiting delegation was headed by Mr Asim Abdul Sattar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and included Professor Aly Shameem and Ms Asiahth Hassan. The delegation engaged in insightful discussions with Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo.
The discussions centred on areas of mutual academic interest, including conferences and virtual academic engagement, particularly in areas such as humanities and library sciences. The meeting was also attended by Professor Iresha Lakshman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Professor Ruwan Gamage, Director of NILIS; and Dr Iroja Caldera, Director of the International Office. This exchange marked an important milestone in strengthening the academic partnership between the two institutions.
