Strengthening Sri Lanka–Thailand Ties: Thai Delegation Visits University of Colombo

A distinguished delegation from Thailand, led by H.E. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, visited the University of Colombo on August 29, 2025, and met with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake. The team included Ambassador Chulamanee Chartsuwan, former Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka (2016–2020), Ambassador Poj Harnpol, former Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka (2020–2023), and academic experts from Chulalongkorn University and Ubon Ratchathani University.
The visit was a parallel event to the Sri Lanka–Thailand Dialogue held at Siam Nivasa, Colombo, on the same date, marking 70 years of friendship between the two nations. The meeting was also attended by Dr Pavithra Jayawardena, Head of the Department of International Relations, together with senior staff members from the Department. The delegation then proceeded to the Department of International Relations, meeting at the Faculty Board Room of the Faculty of Arts, and had fruitful discussions on academic collaboration, research linkages, and strengthening people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
