Faculty of Technology Welcomes 321 New Undergraduates

The Faculty of Technology proudly welcomed its 7th undergraduate batch on August 20, 2024, with an inauguration ceremony held at the New Arts Theatre. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Senior Professor (Chair) Senior Professor (Chair) H D Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University; Professor R U K Piyadasa, Dean of the Faculty of Technology; Mrs K C S Perera, Registrar; Mrs J T L Dharmasena, Bursar; as well as the Heads of Departments, faculty staff, and 321 new undergraduates with their families.

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by a video presentation showcasing the Faculty of Technology’s achievements over the years. Professor Piyadasa delivered a welcoming address, introducing the faculty and its departments, and emphasizing the opportunities and resources available to students. The Vice Chancellor congratulated the new students and highlighted the importance of developing a well-rounded character, encouraging them to pursue growth beyond academic success.

The event concluded with Dr Udara Muthugala and Professor Piyadasa presenting the Student Handbook 24/25 to the Vice Chancellor. Dr Rohan Samarasinghe, Head of the Department of ICT and Coordinator of the Orientation Program, delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the ceremony to a close.
