University of Colombo Shines at SLUG 2025 with Historic Runners-Up Finish
The University of Colombo is proud to announce a landmark achievement at the 15th Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG 2025), where the University secured the Overall Runners-Up position with a record-breaking 426 points. This is the highest overall tally ever achieved by the University in the history of the Sri Lanka University Games and Inter-University Championships. It also marks the University’s best performance at the Games in the past six years.
Out of 42 championships, the University of Colombo achieved: 7 Championships, 10 Runners-Up titles and 3 Second Runners-Up positions. The University emerged victorious in Weightlifting (Men), Wrestling (Men), Cricket (Men), Hockey (Men), Rugby (Men), Basketball (Women), and Swimming (Overall). The Weightlifting (Men) and Wrestling (Men) teams successfully defended their titles for the third consecutive year, while the Cricket (Men), Rugby (Men), and Swimming (Overall) teams retained their championships for the second consecutive year.
This remarkable accomplishment reflects the University of Colombo’s growing reputation for sporting excellence and highlights the dedication of its student-athletes and coaches in fostering talent, teamwork, and perseverance.
