Wisdom, Morality, and Well-being in Difficult Times – Seminar and Panel Discussion, Faculty of Medicine

A Seminar and Panel discussion titled “Wisdom, Morality, and well-being in Difficult Times” was held on 14th December 2023 at the UCFM Tower of the Faculty of Medicine. Dr Santushi Amarasuriya, the head of the Department of Medical Humanities, hosted the event.

The event boasted a lineup of international experts including Professor Melody Chao (The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), Dr Saamdu Chetri (Shoolini University), Professor Igor Grossmann (University of Waterloo), Dr Jim Everett (University of Kent), and Professor Eranda Jayawickreme (Wake Forest University), converging to explore the topics of navigating crises with wisdom, maintaining moral integrity in adversity, and thriving amidst challenges. Additionally, Professor Panduka Karunanayake (University of Colombo) and Dr Ramila Usoof (University of Peradeniya) added valuable insights as local experts during the event.

Attendees gathered vital perspectives on traversing tumultuous times with an emphasis on holistic well-being. The event underscored the pivotal role of interdisciplinary discourse in championing psychological solutions attuned to emotional and psychological needs.
