Professor Marie Perera was awarded an AILA Solidarity Award by the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA)
According to Prof. Bernd Ruschoff, Vice President of AILA the “AILA Solidarity Awards” are awarded each year by AILA to a few outstanding researchers in the field of Applied Linguistics. These researchers are selected after reviewing their abstracts through a rigorous screening process. These individuals are the future of the Applied Linguistics profession and will be the leaders in Applied Linguistics in their countries. This year eight recipients have been elected from different parts of the world.
The AILA Solidarity Award enabled Prof. Marie Perera to participate and present a paper at the 16th World Congress of Applied Linguistics on the theme of Harmony in Diversity: Language, culture, society held at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing, China form August 23-28, 2011.
