Japanese Ambassador Visits University of Colombo for Foreign Policy Dialogue

His Excellency Isomata Akio, Ambassador of Japan, visited the University of Colombo on 9 February 2026 and met with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, at the College House.
The Ambassador attended a panel discussion titled “Revisiting Sri Lanka’s Foreign Policy” organised by the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Arts. The meeting was attended by Professor Ken Jimbo, Managing Director and President of the Asia Pacific Initiative and Professor at Keio University, who served as the guest speaker at the panel; along with Mr Murata Shinichi, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan; Professor Iresha Lakshman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; and Dr Pavithra Jayawardena, Head of the Department of International Relations. The participants engaged in a fruitful discussion on relations between Japan and Sri Lanka, with particular attention to future cooperation with the University.
