International Tourism Leaders’ Summit and the International Tourism Research Conference

The 7th International Tourism Leaders’ Summit (ITLS) and 6th International Tourism Research Conference (ITRC) were held on 27th September 2020 in parallel to UNWTO World Tourism Day Celebration in the Year 2020 organized by the students and Alumni Association of Tourism Economics and Hotel Management (AATEHM) of the Department of Economics, University of Colombo, under the Strategic Partnership of Department of Commerce, Trade and Tourism of the Central Province and Sri Lanka Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Aviation. The Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva was the Keynote Speaker and the Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor Chandrika N Wijeyaratne was the Guest of Honour in these events.

The panalists of the panel discussion on “Together Towards Resilient and Sustainable Sri Lanka Tourism” were the WHO Representative to Sri Lanka, Dr. Razia Pendse, ILO Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Simrin Singh, Founding Coordinator: Master in Tourism Economics, and Hotel Management, University of Colombo, Secretary-General: Tourism and Hospitality Educators and Researchers Association of Asia (THERAA) Professor D.A.C. Suranga Silva and Sri Lanka Tourism Chairperson, Mrs. Kimali Fernando. The moderator of this panel discussion was William Angliss Institute-SLIIT Manager Industry Engagements Mr. Kasun Abeynayaka.
