Freshers’ Welcome 2015 – Faculty of Science

It was a song of ice and fire – with a little more song and a little less ice and some fire in the form of a majestic fire breathing dragon. This weekend, the Faculty of Science transformed into the mythical land of “westeros”, complete with artistic castles and gallant knights (sure, they had a little bit of cardboard wrapped around them, but gallant nevertheless).

The Freshers Welcome 2015 kicked off in grand style with the prodigious efforts of the 2nd year and 1st year students. An evening of pageantry, drama and music to rid us all of the humdrum academic life. The event took place at the NAT hall with the participation of the vice chancellor (acting), Dean of the Science Faculty Prof. K. R. R. Mahanama, along with the academic and non-academic staff.

Ms. Neranji Bandara was crowned Batch Queen and the popular girl of the batch Ms. Rameesha Wanniarachchi was named Ms. Congeniality. The event was concluded with a performance by Randhir Withana followed by a DJ round. Freshers Welcome 2015 was definitely a night to remember for our new First Years.
