Inauguration Ceremony of the Postgraduate Diploma Programs 2025/2026 – Faculty of Indigenous Medicine

The Inauguration Ceremony for the second intake of four Postgraduate Diploma programs and the third intake of the Indigenous Orthopedic Treatment program was held on 14th June 2025 at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine. A total of 67 postgraduate scholars were enrolled for the academic year 2025/2026, marking increased interest in advanced studies in Indigenous Medicine.
The event featured an academic procession and was graced by Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University, as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor emphasised the critical importance of nurturing professionally competent experts in Indigenous Medicine to address both national and global healthcare needs. Dr Dammika Abegunawardhana, Commissioner General of Ayurveda, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of postgraduate education in preserving and advancing traditional medical systems.
