Commencement of Duties for Year 2024

The University of Colombo officially initiated its activities for the New Year on January 1, 2024, at the College House premises. A special event marked the occasion, attended by the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H D Karunaratne along with the Rector of Sri Palee Campus, Dr P Mahanamahewa, Deans of Faculties, Directors of institutes and the UCSC, the Acting Registrar, Ms Vajira Hapuhinna Jayaratne, the Acting Librarian, Dr D C Kuruppu, the Bursar, Ms J T L Dharmasena and all other staff members of the University.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National and University flags followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Subsequently, the Public Servants’ Oath was read by the Acting Registrar, which was followed by the staff members. The Vice Chancellor warmly extended his heartfelt wishes and sincere greetings for the New Year, expressing optimism for a year filled with academic achievements, personal growth, and collaborative success for the entire University community.
