Beijing Language and Culture University delegation visits the University of Colombo
The University of Colombo hosted a delegation from the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), China, on 12th June 2025. Professor Duan Peng, President of BLCU led the delegation which included Chen Lixia (Chief Expert of International Chinese Teaching & Research Center), Li Xincai (Director, Department of Asset Management), Zhou Xin (Dean, School of Applied Chinese Language), Yun Guoqiang (Dean, School of Journalism and Communication) and Wang Nana (Project leader, International Cooperation and Exchange Office).
They engaged in discussions with Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, on possible linkages related to Chinese language proficiency, Chinese traditional medicine, postgraduate studies and cultural exchange. The discussions focused on training programs, student mobility, collaborative centres, and student scholarships. Professor Kamal Perera, Dean Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Dr Iroja Caldera, Director of the International Office, Dr Shashinie Thenabadu, Sri Lanka Director of the Confucius Institute and Ms Namal Wickramasekera, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching, joined the discussion.
