Kotte Literary Festival 2026: University of Colombo Joins as Key Academic Partner
The Kotte Literary Festival 2026, themed “The Kingdom of Kotte: A Golden Era of Literature in Global Dialogue,” is a landmark cultural and academic event dedicated to celebrating one of the most vibrant periods in Sri Lanka’s literary history. Focusing on the flourishing mid-15th century under the Kingdom of Kotte, the festival explores the richness of classical Sinhala literature shaped by royal patronage, particularly during the reign of Parakramabahu VI, and enriched through dynamic cross-cultural exchanges with regions such as India, China, the Middle East, and Europe. Bringing together scholars, writers, researchers, and students, the festival serves as a vibrant platform for dialogue, research, and creative engagement that connects historical literary achievements with contemporary thought and expression.
The organisers are honoured to invite the University of Colombo to join as a key academic partner for this prestigious event. As one of Sri Lanka’s leading institutions in higher education, the University’s expertise in the humanities and literary studies would significantly enhance the academic rigour and collaborative spirit of the festival, fostering meaningful contributions that bridge past traditions with present and future scholarship.
