Workshop on Enhancing Typing Proficiency – HRDC
The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) organized a workshop titled “Preparing for the Computer Typing Test for Probationary Staff” on 21st March 2025. The session was held at the Computer Laboratory of the Department of IT, Faculty of Arts, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This workshop was designed for Management Assistants and Library Information Assistants currently serving on probation. Since typing proficiency is a key requirement for confirmation in these roles after the three-year probationary period, the workshop aimed to improve participants’ typing speed, accuracy, and familiarity with test protocols.
The session was conducted by Mr. G. A. Batuwanthudawa, LMS Administrator of the Faculty of Arts. Through a hands-on practical session, he guided participants through test simulations, keyboard techniques, and efficiency-building exercises aligned with official typing test standards. A total of 15 participants benefited from this specialized training. The workshop’s interactive, practice-oriented approach received positive feedback from attendees, who found it highly relevant and useful in preparing for their upcoming assessments. The HRDC remains committed to supporting staff development through targeted training opportunities that address practical workplace needs and contribute to career progression within the university system.
