UOC Shines at the Inter-University Rowing Championships 2024
The Inter-University Rowing Championships 2024 was held at the Colombo Rowing Club, with the preliminary rounds and consolation finals on August 31st and the thrilling finals on September 7th. The awarding ceremony was graced by Senior Professor (Chair) H D Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University, as the Chief Guest, and Dr Manoj Fernando, President of the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association, as the Guest of Honor.
The University of Colombo Men’s A four crew won their event after 14 years, setting a new meet record. The team also claimed the Professor Stanley Wijesundara Challenge Trophy for the Overall Men’s Champions. The University of Colombo Women’s team secured the Runners-Up position, while the Professor Lakshman Dissanayake Challenge Trophy for the Overall Women’s Champions was won by the University of Moratuwa Women’s crew.
